MBP’s still my MVP

My Apple MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro.

Exactly a week ago I got lucky and found a MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro in my color of choice Space Gray. I’ve been looking to buy one for days but couldn’t find an online seller with stocks of the base model. Even with contacts from Greenhills. Authorized resellers like Power Mac Center are of course selling them at ridiculously higher prices. Not sure whether stocks are being held because of the recent announcement of the M2 Pro and M2 Max models. I wasn’t really expecting prices to go down but knowing the demand it would probably happen in a few months when the newer models are released here. I would have settled with the M2 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro 13, but I couldn’t justify the price and the specs, so I’ve been eyeing the 14-inch model, it’s just not available. Luckily I found one, supposedly the last stock, at a very good price and it was delivered the same day I ordered, go check my Tiktok.

And I couldn’t be more excited and equally nervous as this is my biggest online purchase for 2023! My first MacBook was the white plastic model, which got stolen, replaced it with the MacBook Air 11 that now has a bloated battery but still manages to boot and function, and a series of MBAs and MBPs issued at work. The last MBP I personally bought was the touch-bar, butterfly keyboard model. It got wet overnight but thankfully I got it back to work again. The desktop and notebook PCs I’ve ever used were the usual office productivity types but I couldn’t help but do most of my work on a Mac.

@cclozan0 Blessed and grateful, here’s to more good work this 2023! #cclozano #heydaddyc #macbookpro14 #fyp #foryoupage #kimstore @KimstorePH ♬ Fun and happy whistling and ukulele(930822) – yutaka.T

So yes, the MBP is still my MVP. Aside from being well-specced, it’s pretty easy to set up, doesn’t get infected with viruses or malware, it’s instantly on and can be used with a single charge on a full workday, it’s highly reliable for media-heavy tasks, and the amazing screen doesn’t tire the eyes easily – these to me are the reasons I stick with a Mac. A friend asked why I didn’t just wait for the newer M2 Pro version to be released here, well I needed it already, and the performance improvements are like 20-30% only, so it’s no big deal to me. I’m really just happy to be typing this now on my MacBook Pro 14 M1 Pro.

Here’s to getting more blessings with good work in 2023!
