A new Apple MacBook is in the Air

Excitement's in the air as Steve Jobs stunned attendees (and the rest of us googling) in his Macworld keynote as the new MacBook Air is unveiled.

This 'world's thinnest notebook' is available on pre-order, starts at a hefty price of US$1,799 (that's close to 80,000 pesos at our current exchange rate) and features a 13.3 inch display (LED), a full keyboard, built-in 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth, built-in iSight, with a multitouch trackpad that allows you to use gestures to control a number of actions on the MacBook Air. Turn to Apple.com to see what else is there to drool at and what's missing (you guessed it right, the design will have to let go a lot including an optical drive).

As the smoke's somewhat clearing (Mr. Jobs sure is always ready to surprise us in the face of numerous speculations), let's see if this 'thinnovation' will become legendary like the iconic iPod.

Found: Transformers in special tin casing

Finally, the Transformers DVD in its special tin-can casing, found.

Was looking for it in video shops for a couple of weeks now and was almost always told that its out of stock. Even the 2-disc exclusive release is nowhere to be found. There were few copies of the regular DVD release at some shops, but I decided I'd like to have the collectible edition.

However tonight, after my wife's volleyball game, we head off to SM Fairview with a friend, and decided we'll try to look for a copy after a quick dinner--and we did! Found it at Video City, where a friendly clerk told us they only have the special edition which is not on display.

Looking surprised, like we found a pot of golden coins, we bought it with what's left of our cash in hand and went straight home. The kids were jumping in excitement when they saw what we brought home as 'pasalubong!'

And so as not to drag ourselves in anticipation, we watched the movie (forget that we're still in jeans)--and enjoyed it just as we did when we saw it the first time. What happens next is the amazement and criticisms--then we all slept late.

My new notebook!

Here's my new notebook, provided by the company.

It's an MSI Megabook S420 Intel Core 2 Duo with a 14" screen that's only 2K in weight - not that heavy to carry around everyday.

I still need to see if it can outperform my old 17" Toshiba Satellite, only catch is it has the Home version of Windows XP.

Too bad the MIS guys in the office gave up (after romancing with it the whole day) in attempting to have it connected to the network--suddenly telecommuting sounded foreign.
