When Instagram announced the Worldwide Instameet 15 and the theme will be “kindness” we thought this is something we’ve already done at IGersManila in many of our social good campaigns and so we asked our collaborators pool for ideas. We got several amazing ideas but we figured most will be difficult to do given the short timeframe to prepare and the minimal resources we have.
While at home playing with our Shih Tzus, I remember coming across a Facebook page calling for volunteer photographers for an animal shelter. Good thing I actually liked and follow the page, that’s the Philippine Animal Rescue Team, sharing many of their wonderful rescue stories, mostly of abandoned and sickly dogs and cats, that are now under their care in a sanctuary that’s home to hundreds of rescued animals including ducks, a pig, chickens, turkeys and goats.
I got in touch with the director of the sanctuary and asked if we can do a day of Instagram’ing at the shelter and offered to photograph their adoptables and was happy to accommodate us! And so we’re set out to do #WWIM15❤️PH #WWIM15❤️ (yes that’s the heart emoji which can be hashtagged in Instagram) at the Paws and Claws Animal Sanctuary (PCAS) in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan this Saturday March 25, 2017.
Taking cue from the shelter’s tagline, our theme for this instameet is Creating Pawsibilities. This will be the 24th Philippine Instameet / Manila Instameet. Aside from doing our usual Instagram’ing activities, the highlight of the event will be what we call a Pawesome Photoshoot, with which we’ll try our best to photograph as many of the sheltered animals for adoption as possible, in the hope that this will get them another chance in life to be happy, healthy, and well-loved with a family in a permanent home. If you can’t make it to the instameet, you can also help in our donation drive, to provide the badly needed food for all rescued animals.
If you’re a pet owner or love pets and would like to volunteer, join us by registering at bit.ly/wwim15ph. Last day for signing up will be on March 20, 2017. Our furry friends will be happy to Instagram with us!
