Instagram for iOS version 2.5.0

Today, Instagram released 2.5.0 update for the iOS version of my favorite photo-sharing app, with these features:

– Revamped profile tab
– Search for users and tags in the Explore tab
– Improvements to commenting
– User search autocompletes based on people you follow
– Visual improvements
– Speed optimizations
– Optionally share likes to Facebook

Tapping on the profile tab now brings you directly to your profile – well, neat – but not exactly a needed change. This at least gives the app a straightforward navigation, best for newbies.

The POPULAR page (which seem to recently only feature photos of celebrities with over a thousand double-taps) is now replaced with the EXPLORE tab, which, you guessed it, features popular posts with over a thousand likes, and a search function for looking up users and tags.

The rest are ho-hum app enhancements, but make for the same Instagram experience users (we’re called IGers) have come to love and continue to get addicted to  – easy and fast photo snapping and sharing – to a massive worldwide community of over 50 million IGers. There’s also 1.1.4 update for Android users released today.
