I was with IGersManila moderators, collaborators, and fellow Instagram’ers, making up almost half of the invitees at the exclusive instameet preview of Da Vinci The Genius at The Mind Museum, touted as the only exhibition that offers the full Da Vinci experience – the look, analysis, and interaction with the works of this Italian polymath, Leonardo da Vinci, the ever famous Renaissance Man. This exhibition is developed by Grande Exhibitions Australia under the auspices of the Commune di Roma, Commune di Firenze, and Citta di Venezia, traveling across the globe and now it’s here in Manila!
The preview is actually an Instagram’ing event, attended also by bloggers, but instead of the usual museum tour, we did a “Finding Leonardo” photo-hunt activity with which guests were asked to explore the exhibit by snapping and sharing photos of Da Vinci’s works, with hashtags that present the creations of the multi-faceted genius in a variety of areas such as music, art, anatomy, engineering, among others, including codices and his many inventions. Amazed by the awesome displays and the Mind Movers (museum guides) dressed in black robes, each holding a candle for effect, I was only able to post five photos, one of which won me a prize. It’s my first time, and I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard my Instagram username announced as a winner by the host. The final instameet task was to post a creative snapshot of Da Vinci’s famous artwork – the Mona Lisa – and I’m so proud that the three grand prize winners are all from IGersManila, fellow moderator @edcalaycay, collaborator @reyjohnino, and our avid #9pmhabit Instagram’er @iamkebok. Mine was perfect for the #9pmhabit theme, which is #CuatroCuentos.
From the mysterious mask/scroll invite, the eye-catching exhibition and the Renaissance vibe, to the must-have keepsakes and photo prints, this is an instameet that not only got us awed to Leonardo da Vinci and his great contributions to the arts and sciences but also sparked our own geniuses, that is, with Instagram’ing!
Da Vinci The Genius will be open to the public from September 01 to November 30, 2013 at The Mind Museum, JY Campos Park, 3rd Avenue, Bonifacio Global City. For more information, go to themindmuseum.org.
Bring the whole family and keep the good vibes rolling! #KTGVR
